Celine love ft. tr33 - like you like that
By Libby Driscoll
Emerging singer-songwriter Celine Love teams up with producer TR33 in her latest single Like You Like That…
Blending dreamy indie pop and R&B, Like You Like That brightly radiates with an evocatively endearing edge. Being only the third single released from German-born Love, the track is resonant with creative maturity and artistic self-awareness, both lyrically and vocally.
‘Like You Like That’ is about the fear of losing myself in the idea of a perfect romance. After a long-term relationship that ended during lockdown I was just starting to feel comfortable in my skin because I had the time to focus on myself. I am a chronic overthinker and wrote this song almost as a warning to not give up everything I had gained for anyone else. It's the first song TR33 and I worked on and is more R&B leaning than anything I’d done before. Creating this felt like a new beginning not only for my art but also for me as a person.”

Sweeping atmospheric synths introduce the track as Love’s buttery vocals join shortly after reciting, “I hate when you say put your head on my shoulder come closer and talk to me”. The phrasing of the lyrics bounces with an infectiously endearing rhythm, which glide unbelievably smooth. Musically, the flow is almost intimidatingly cool; the production is an aesthetically pristine dream to experience, whole heartedly complimented by the texture of its electronic pads and Love’s engrossing harmonies.
Like You Like That is by far the strongest release we’ve seen so far from Love. Her sense of self stands incandescently high, welcoming a new era for both the artist’s sound and confidence. The significant theme of self-growth and reflection birthed through lockdown is an experience many of us have undergone throughout the past year, and what better track to have celebrating coming out on top than Like You Like That?
