Sapphire- Call u mine

Fronting the unruly world of falling in love, SAPPHIRE delves into multifaceted emotions with call u mine

SAPPHIRE - call u mine

Produced by Cashybear, call u mine is the seventh single from SAPPHIRE, which sees the British singer-songwriter bare honest narratives surrounding the trials and tribulations of falling in love with somebody new.

I really wanted this song to mimic the feeling of falling in love - that warm fuzzy feeling that we’ve all experienced in some way. But even though the production mirrors that feeling, the lyrics explain how it’s not always happily ever after. I think ‘call u mine’ has really given me an opportunity to go back to my roots, taking inspiration from some of my idols like Carly Simon and Carole King. I’ve always felt like their songs came from the heart, which I’m hoping is how people will feel when they listen to this song.

Call u mine focuses heavily on its atmospheric nature, mimicking the unknown whilst radiating a resilient sense of familiarity and comfort. What I particularly find endearing about the track, is that it can be experienced from the different perspectives of affection; whether you’re just on the cusp of falling for someone, experiencing it deeply or reflecting on someone you’ve lost, call u mine holds the power to adapt to the individualistic needs of the listener.

Through rounded piano chords and the sweeping of string sections, the airy atmosphere allows SAPPHIRE’s light and delicate vocals flow without opposition from the instrumentation, weaving in and out of excitement, concern, and acceptance.

Call u mine is the type of ballad that you can continuously return to. Whether for cathartic or joyful reasons, call u mine offers a hand to guide you through the highs and lows that love often brings.
